The purpose of the NC Child Support Council is to:
• Provide an organizational forum for the exchange of information and communication of those persons and agencies involved in the child support process in NC;
• Provide articulation and coordination to address the needs and improve and promote the interests of those persons working in the child support process, as there are numerous agencies with interdependent functions at the state and county level;
• Provide opportunities for those involved to come together and discuss common administrative and operational problems and work together to resolve those problems, while understanding each other's roles in the system and process;
• Improve interstate cooperation and processing of Uniform Interstate Family Support Act petitions between states to establish and enforce child support obligations through affiliation with NCSEA (National Child Support Enforcement Association).
Membership is available to any person or agency interested in improving Child Support Enforcement Programs in North Carolina.

There are 21 Board Members that are elected. The Past president serves on the Board for 1 year. The ex-officio members include the Chief of the NC Child Support Program and the Head of the Administrative Office of the Court. Other members include Supervisors from Child Support Offices across the state, Clerk of Court staff, a private attorney, a Judge, Child Support agents, staff from the State Child Support office and private citizens.
